What is an electric single girder overhead crane?

Knowledge about electric single girder overhead crane

Definition of Electric Single Girder Overhead Crane

Electric single girder overhead crane is a type of overhead lifting equipment. It adopts a single main girder and takes the electric hoist as the lifting mechanism. The crane travels along overhead rails mounted on factory building supports, widely used for material handling inside workshops, featuring light weight, easy installation and cost effectiveness.

Where is the electric single girder overhead crane applicable?

Electric single girder overhead cranes are widely used in machining workshops, assembly workshops, warehouses, hardware factories, mold workshops, building material workshops and small steel structure factories. They are designed for indoor material handling with medium lifting capacity. They are generally not suitable for outdoor environments or working conditions with high temperature, strong corrosion, flammable and explosive risks.

Features of Electric Single Girder Overhead Crane

1.Simple and lightweight overall structure with low self-weight, reducing load requirements on the factory building.

2.Equipped with an electric hoist as lifting mechanism, featuring stable operation and flexible control.

3.Short installation cycle, easy maintenance and economical investment cost.

4.Low vertical space occupation, improving the utilization rate of workshop space.

5.Mainly applied for indoor working conditions, suitable for lifting medium and small loads.

6.Multiple operation modes available: ground control, wireless remote control and so on.

Differences Between Electric Single Girder Overhead Crane and Electric Double Girder Overhead Crane

1.Main Girder Structure

Single girder type adopts one main girder and is normally fitted with electric hoist. Double girder type has two main girders, equipped with trolley lifting mechanism.

2.Lifting Capacity

Single girder crane: medium & small capacity, commonly 0.5t~20t. Double girder crane: medium & heavy capacity, normally 10t~50t and above.

3.Workshop Height Requirement

Single girder crane features low overall height, ideal for low-headroom workshops. Double girder crane needs higher clear height of workshop.

4.Dead Weight & Building Load

Single girder: light self-weight, lower load demand for factory building. Double girder: heavier structure, higher bearing requirement for runway beams.

5.Operation Stability

Single girder: suitable for normal-frequency light & medium lifting work. Double girder: higher structural rigidity, smoother operation for heavy-duty frequent service.

6.Cost & Installation

Single girder: lower cost and shorter installation period. Double girder: higher investment and relatively complicated installation.

7.Application

Single girder: machining workshops, warehouses, light assembly lines. Double girder: heavy machinery plants, foundries, steel processing and other heavy-load sites.
